ST. HILDEGARD IN THE USA (ART)

Sacred Heart Church, Austin, Texas (worth 1,000 words!)
Americans have a fascination of  St. Hildegard.  For many reasons I am sure, but artists seem to top the list.  I have been collecting images of her for many years and have great images of art, but cannot find some of the best ones!

"Listen again, those who long to complete God's Works must always bear in mind that they are fragile vessels, for they are only human...they can only sing the mysteries of God like a trumpet, which only returns a sound but does not function unassisted, for it is Another who breathes into that it might give forth that sound..."

Richard Cannuli, OSA- Penn.

Lewis Williams, SFO- New Mex.
Fr. William Hart McNichols, New Mex

"Blood that bled into a cry!
The elements felt Its touch and trembled,
And Heaven heard their woe!
O Life Blood of the Maker,
Scarlet music heal our wounds!"

  1. I am a beginning iconographer-I went to Peter Pearson's workshop and have written an icon of St. Francis, now getting ready to make my favorite St. Hildegard. She has inspired me so much-first to learn German, now to paint again. Thanks for posting these. Blessings!

  2. Could you please attribute the artwork on your site to the artist who created it? I'm sure you mean no harm, so simply including a link to the artist's website would be incredibly helpful. Or, if you've received permission from each artists, a statement as such allowing those of us who read your blog to see more from each artist.
